About us...

Estangard Outdoor Experiences was founded in 2022 by three adventurers who share the love for Norwegian nature and their passion for the work as outdoor guides.

On all of our tours we don’t only aim to create a truly unforgettable memory for you, but also make you bring home some new perspectives and a better understanding of nature. We want to help you disconnect from our busy, modern world and reconnect with nature and with yourself.

As children, we aren’t as afraid as we become when we grow up, we never think of what might happen or what could be the consequence of our actions, we live in the moment. As adults, our focus is often shifted away from the present moment and we lose our ability to wonder and be astonished.

In Estangard, we believe that it is extremely healthy to give in to some lightness and playfulness every now and then; to leave your comfort zone, challenge your fears and overcome our head-made boundaries.

As outdoor guides we have experienced countless situations where people reach the edges of their comfort zone and we can say with absolute confidence that it is a truly rewarding experience to jump over that edge and see what lies behind. We make sure to keep you safe while you explore the freedom of being out in nature and getting in touch with the elements.

Our Values

We aim to deliver honest, real, personal, pure, fair, genuine, authentic, extraordinary, and down-to-earth experiences. We want to encourage you to travel with more purpose, to disconnect and therewith reconnect with nature, with others and with yourself.

The personal contact with you as our guests is very important for us. We are a small company with a small capacity which enables us to create a very individual experience and tailor our tours to your personal wishes. For us, the meaningful connections and beautiful encounters with people from all around the world are the reason we works as guides.

Let us share our passion, enthusiasm and knowledge about nature with you and hopefully you will leave this place with unforgettable memories and a great deal of inspiration to take home with you.

Esther Josten

Esther comes from a small village in western Germany. She grew up in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nature, which has always been a big part of her life.

She found her great passion in the travel sector and outdoor life. Her studies of International Tourism Management make a solid base for understanding the bigger picture of tourism planning & development, as well as tourism impacts.

She spent many years living and guiding in different countries and regions, gathering experience from all around the world. In the beautiful fjord lands of Southern Norway she found her second home.

What Esther loves most about the job is not only getting out into nature and being in touch with the elements, but having the privilege of being present when people step out of their comfort zone, to witness when humans are humbled by the beauty and power of nature. For her, travelling is eye-opening and expands our horizon. Many stories and memories we take home from our travels will last us a lifetime.

“As guides we aim to open eyes, educate, challenge, and inspire. So that you go home with much more than just photos and souvenirs.”

Richard Mauseth

Richard has a master degree in outdoor and sport education. Besides his extensive experience as an outdoor guide, he works as a rope rescue instructor training rescue personnel. He loves “doing cool things and keeping them as safe as possible”.

As a true Norwegian, he grew up in close connection with nature. Outdoor survival techniques, multi-day tours and planning experiences in the mountains and forests of this beautiful country have always been a big part of his lifestyle.

When guiding, his main goal is for you to leave with a greater knowledge and understanding of nature, the culture and history of the area. He wants to inspire people to get out there, to overcome their fears and step out of their daily routines to really live with all senses. For Richard, nature is a big playground and offers endless possibilities for incredible experiences.
