- FAQ Cliff Camping
Yes, for all travelers who are on a tight schedule, we offer a Cliff Picnic – which can also be transformed into a Cliff Dinner, a Cliff Coffee & Cake, or a Cliff Tea Time. Just send us an email (hello@estangard.com), let us know what you’d like to do and how much time you’ve got and we’ll create something just for you.
Yes, it’s possible, both, before or after. But please keep in mind that Trolltunga is a very long hike and can get very strenuous or even dangerous depending on the weather and the season. We recommend taking the overnight tour with Trolltunga Active or Trolltunga Adventures if you wish to do Cliff Camping before or after Trolltunga. Alternatively, we can also organize a Cliff Picnic or Dinner for you where you just get a taste of Cliff Camping without actually spending the night. If in doubt, just reach out to us (hello@estangard.com), we’re happy to give some advice.
The indicated price of 6,600 NOK is per tent, which can host up to two people.
You are very welcome to join by yourself! When booking, you just take a whole tent for yourself, which is the same price for 2 people.
We provide you with a radio so you can call your guide who will secure you and assist you to get out and back into the cliff tent.
As mentioned in our product description, we are out in nature and we want to keep our impact as low as possible, therefore the toilet solution is very basic.
It’s basically a latrine – very outdoorsy and viking-like 😉
In Norway, you quickly get to learn: “there’s no such thing as bad weather”. We have a small shelter against wind and rain where we can comfortably sit and eat. The hanging tents have a rain cover and are very stable even if it’s windy. We provide you with the latest weather forecast one day before your tour so make sure you pack and dress accordingly. If you feel uncomfortable with the weather, you can always change to a different date if we have availability. When “uncomfortable” weather turns into dangerous weather we might have to cancel the tour or move it to a different date, both of which you will be informed beforehand – in case you can’t come on a different date, you get a full refund from us.
On most days we’re flexible with timings so just send us an email and we’ll try our best to adapt to your schedule
You don’t need to bring any camping, climbing or safety equipment. We will provide you with everything you need. For what you need to bring, just check the list provided.
Yes, the maximum weight per hanging tent is 200 kg / 441 lbs.
Every outdoor activity involves a certain risk – Cliff Camping not more than hiking in the mountains. But yes, we’ll make sure to keep you safe. Your guide will make you aware of potential risks and help you to avoid them. In case something happens, all guides are trained first aiders and carry relevant equipment. The tents have a double security system and as long as you are staying in the tent, you need to keep your harness on you with a rope attached to a third security point that is independent from the tent. So as long as you make sure that you are attached at all times, you’re safe.
Depending on the weather and your personal “sure-footedness”, you should wear comfortable hiking or walking shoes. The path to our camp goes over uneven and rough terrain.
Please let us know via email (hello@estangard.com) if you have any food intolerances or allergies and we will adapt dinner and breakfast accordingly.
That depends on the weather and the time of the year. Generally the tents hang in a position that provide great sunset or star views if the weather allows for it. The summers are very bright in Norway so if you come for sunset or the starry sky, we recommend the shoulder seasons between March/April and September/October. Northern lights are very rare in the south of Norway, they can be seen every now and then, but I wouldn’t count on it.
We take photos, not professional ones, we are guides, not photographers. But they are included. We’re happy to use your device or our own phone, go pro or insta360 camera.
- FAQ Cliff Picnic
It doesn’t need to be a cliff picnic, it can be a cliff dinner, cliff coffee & cake, cliff tea time, or even just the tour without any food involved – that doesn’t have a name yet. If you would like to only go up, abseil into the portaledges, spend some time there, take some photos and head back down, we’re happy to organize that for you, just send us an email (hello@estangard.com).
This depends on the weather, your personal preference, and your group size. We do have a nice set up with a long bench and a table where food is usually served. But of course we can also serve food to you while you are sitting in the hanging tent if the weather is nice – generally it’s up to you.
The selection of food varies by season since we try to source our ingredients as locally as possible. For the picnic we usually have a selection of bread with different savory and sweet spreads, some cheese and cold cuts, fruits, and various snacks. The dinner consists of a 3-course outdoor meal consisting of a savory starter, a main course of salmon, pan fried potatoes with some vegetables and a small salad, and a dessert. Additionally we can serve hot drinks and a small selection of anti-alcoholic beverage.
Please let us know via email (hello@estangard.com) if you have any food intolerances or allergies and we will adapt dinner and breakfast accordingly.

- FAQ Tree Tenting
Yes, sleeping and camping equipment is not included in this tour. If you don’t want to carry all your gear up to camp or don’t have anything with you, you can rent sleeping bags, mats, cooking gear etc. at the end of your booking. We will carry everything up for you before your arrival. If you still figure out later that you might need something, just send us an email (hello@estangard.com).
We’re flexible on the check in time, please just let us know a day in advance when you plan to arrive and keep your host posted on your timings on your arrival day since he/she will set up the camp for you and will meet you on Lilletopp to show you around your camp. We will provide you with his/her number the day before your arrival.
No, there’s no running water or spring anywhere in the area so you will have to carry up the water you’ll need for your stay (approx. 5 liters).
As mentioned in our product description, we are out in nature and we want to keep our impact as low as possible, therefore the toilet solution is very basic.

- FAQ Nordic Forest Bathing
It is a beautiful and relaxed activity, a slow mindful walk through the forest, a digital detox. You learn how to be fully present in the moment, focus on your different senses, and how to calm down by immersing yourself in nature. With our Nordic twist to this activity, we’ll dive deeper into the connection of the Norse people with their forests throughout their history and mythology.
Forest Bathing can be done with or without a guide. Many people struggle to really disconnect though. Your guide helps to bring you back into the present moment, should your mind drift off, he/she offers inspiration and invitations, creates awareness and mindfulness that you might struggle to find by yourself.
Only a very basic level of physical fitness is required, the walk is slow and we get to sit down often. However, it leads us through uneven terrain, partly off the path and up- or downhill. However, we can adapt the route to your group’s personal fitness level.
No, nothing special. Since we are moving very slowly, please make sure you dress warmly – warmer than you would on a normal hike. The soil in the forest is often moist so waterproofs are not a bad idea. Bring extra layers if in doubt. We also recommend bringing a bottle of water and any personal medication if needed.
No, please make sure you use the toilet before coming to the meeting point. In case you need to go during the tour, you can use the vast forest around us – your guide carries some paper and a bag to put the paper in after use.
You can bring both, but we will ask you not to use it during the tour as it creates a distraction for yourself and the others. We highly recommend leaving it at home or in your car so you truly get to disconnect while out in the forest. If you decide to bring it, we will ask you to switch it off or put it on silent/flight mode.
Towards the end of the tour we will have a small tea session and provide some small snacks. Please let us know beforehand (hello@estangard.com) if you have any allergies or intolerances.
No, you don’t need to hug a tree on this tour. You’re welcome to, but we won’t force you.
The minimum age is 16. The tour is designed to be quiet and peaceful and you will sometimes be asked to be super silent and still which can get very boring for children and dogs. If you would like to have a similar kind of tour with your whole family, we are happy to create a more interactive and educational tour that includes some games and activities that are more suitable for children… and dogs. Just send us an email and we’ll see how we can get you out there all together (hello@estangard.com).
