FAQ Cliff Picnic

It doesn’t need to be a cliff picnic, it can be a cliff dinner, cliff coffee & cake, cliff tea time, or even just the tour without any food involved – that doesn’t have a name yet. If you would like to only go up, abseil into the portaledges, spend some time there, take some photos and head back down, we’re happy to organize that for you, just send us an email (hello@estangardneu-q16th4pofk.live-website.com).

This depends on the weather, your personal preference, and your group size. We do have a nice set up with a long bench and a table where food is usually served. But of course we can also serve food to you while you are sitting in the hanging tent if the weather is nice – generally it’s up to you.

The selection of food varies by season since we try to source our ingredients as locally as possible. For the picnic we usually have a selection of bread with different savory and sweet spreads, some cheese and cold cuts, fruits, and various snacks. The dinner consists of a 3-course outdoor meal consisting of a savory starter, a main course of salmon, pan fried potatoes with some vegetables and a small salad, and a dessert. Additionally we can serve hot drinks and a small selection of anti-alcoholic beverage.

Yes, the maximum weight per hanging tent is 200 kg / 441 lbs.

We take photos, not professional ones, we are guides, not photographers. But they are included. We’re happy to use your device or our own phone, go pro or insta360 camera.

In Norway, you quickly get to learn: “there’s no such thing as bad weather”. We have a small shelter against wind and rain where we can comfortably sit and eat. The hanging tents have a rain cover and are very stable even if it’s windy. We provide you with the latest weather forecast one day before your tour so make sure you pack and dress accordingly. If you feel uncomfortable with the weather, you can always change to a different date if we have availability. When “uncomfortable” weather turns into dangerous weather we might have to cancel the tour or move it to a different date, both of which you will be informed beforehand – in case you can’t come on a different date, you get a full refund from us.
