About the tour

The hike to your accommodation is a beautiful little path that takes you around 1h and opens up to spectacular views.

Once you reach camp, your guide will show you around the area. You then have time to just enjoy this beautiful piece of Norwegian nature and take a wander around. Dinner is prepared in camp and served by the bonfire – if the weather allows it. You spend the evening with good stories and amazing views before you get into your hammock that gently rocks you to sleep.

After a beautiful evening and night out in the wilderness, you will be served breakfast before you pack up and hike back to civilization..

What is included:

  • Experienced Outdoor Guide
  • All equipment needed for the overnight stay
  • Dinner & breakfast
  • Photos of your tour

What to bring:

  • Warm clothing: even though it might be warm during the day, the temperatures always cool down at night and the evenings get chilly. So make sure you bring enough warm clothes for the time you spend outside.
  • Waterproofs: we’re in Norway so you never know.
  • At least 2 liters of drinking water per person
  • Personal medication if needed

Please note:

  • Please let us know beforehand if you have any food allergies or intolerances.
  • If you suffer from any allergies or medical conditions that might impact you during your stay with us, please let us know in advance. We will always carry first aid equipment but that of course has its limitations. Please make sure you carry your personal medication with you at all times.
  • This activity is generally not weather dependent, we will still create a beautiful experience even if it’s raining.
  • However, rain or strong winds will prevent us from making fire and even though the tents possess a rain cover, they can get moist from underneath since they are hanging in the air and water can run down the straps into the tent.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the tour on short notice should the bad weather become dangerous weather (storm, heavy rain, ice or rockfall risk)

Limitation:

  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Parents are fully responsible for their children.
  • If you would like to bring your pet, please be aware that it will not be able to sleep in the hammock with you. Your pet must be able and warm enough to spend a night outside during your chosen season – we can provide a shelter against humidity, but keep in mind that we are in Norway and it gets cold in the nights.
  • Please be aware that we need to limit the consumption of alcohol on the mountain due to safety reasons. We therefore ask you to not bring any hard liquor on the tour. If in doubt, your guide will have the last word and might not allow you to access the hammock or get close to the cliff side and can decide to walk you back down to the parking and therewith end the tour. We hold the responsibility for your personal safety and therefore ask for your understanding, since Norwegian laws are very strict on alcohol consumption.
  • For safety reasons there is a weight limit of 120 kg per hammock. If you exceed this limit but would still like to book this tour, we can provide you with an alternative on the ground – with the same stunning views.

Hammocking & Tyssedal Via Ferrata

About the Via Ferrata ad-on

The steep mountains, waterfalls and wild rivers have made Norway the land of hydropower. This ad-on experience to your trip will give you a unique insight into how the story of hydropower started. You get to witness the extreme heights and conditions in which the pioneer workers built the hydropower constructions more than 100 years ago.

On the Tyssedal Via Ferrata, we follow the footsteps of the “rallarane”, the construction workers.
The tour starts with a visit of the “Power Museum”, the Norwegian Museum of Hydropower. The beautiful historic building gives you an idea of the importance of this project, which was not only a game-changer for the entire region, but for all of Norway.

After the museum visit, our adventure truly begins. We climb up the via ferrata route that follows the five massive penstocks that transported the water from the mountain into the old hydropower station. The higher you climb, the better your view gets over the scenic Sorfjord, which is part of the Hardangerfjord and the Folgefonna National Park. Tyssedal Via Ferrata is the perfect combination of fun, action, history and incredible views.

  • Museum tour with historical film showing the industrial development of the area
